BET has long been known as a source for the latest in urban entertainment in the US. The problem was that their website—though popular and a solid revenue generator—was looking out of date and out of step with the brand, not to mention difficult to update. I worked with their Web Product team as UX Lead, delving into their analytics, conducting market and primary research, developing wireframes, flows, prototypes, content specs, and more. The initial engagement lasted four months, and subsequent engagements lasted a month each. By the end of those engagements, their content views and revenue numbers had increased by 30%, and the flexibility of the new content formats allowed them to double down on their cultural impact.
